How it works

From group chat to confirmed order

The full journey of a split order — what the merchant does, what the group sees, and what happens to the money at every step.

T-0 · Merchant

Create the split order

From the Splitt dashboard (or the API), the merchant creates an order: total amount, number of shares, and a payment deadline — say $1,400, 4 shares, 24 hours. Splitt returns one shareable link.

+1 min · Group

The link hits the group chat

The organiser drops the link where the group already is — iMessage, WhatsApp, email. Each person sees the order, the shares remaining, and the countdown.

Within the window · Each person

Claim a spot, pay your share

Each participant claims a share and pays it — card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Afterpay, or Zip. Their money is held securely; nobody's payment goes anywhere until the whole order completes.

Last share paid · Automatic

The order confirms

The moment the final share lands, the order flips to confirmed. The merchant gets notified instantly and the full amount, minus Splitt's fee, is routed to their account.

Deadline passes · Automatic

Or everyone gets refunded

If the group doesn't fill every share in time, every payment is refunded in full — automatically, no requests needed. The merchant's calendar or stock frees up, and nobody's out of pocket.

The all-or-nothing rule is the whole product

It's what makes both sides trust the split. Merchants never hold partial money for a booking that won't happen. Consumers never pay for something the group didn't commit to.
